Is it Wii or PS2 ... ?
For Online War Games
In its first eight months of offering, Nintendo's Wii is on the fast track to overtake Sony's PS2 record-setting sales in the same time frame. Sony has scored 115 million PS2 units sold, and still running; Nintendo is pulling up fast. Will this affect online war games?
This division of platforms could cause some divergence in the games as they cluster around one or the other. On the other hand, compatibility issues can be resolved.
For the answer to the race for top dog, watch NPD's comparative sales data as the race continues to develop.
In spite of current figures, some observers say the popularity of Wii will wane given its unusual motion-controls and aging graphics technology. They expect that Nintendo will either fail to continue delivering what they term "compelling software" to endure throughout Wii's life cycle, or a Wii successor will not be released before the expiration of its expected five-year shelf life.
Nevertheless, it's agreed Nintendo has executed a brilliant job of marketing their software and creating the perception with gamers and especially online war games, that they make the most entertaining home console. Players seem to be convinced as they continue consuming Wii's at a record-breaking clip.
